UConn men’s basketball coaches Dan Hurley and Kimani Young began their week at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven on Monday night, watching top-50 prospect in the Class of 2026, Abdou Toure.

The back-to-back national champions must’ve liked what they saw, despite Toure’s Notre Dame-West Haven team losing just its second game of the season to New Haven’s Hillhouse in a 54-53 stunner.

Not long after the game, the 6-foot-6 guard from New Haven announced on social media that he received a scholarship offer from the Huskies.

“Blessed to receive a D1 offer from the University of Connecticut,” Toure posted to X. “Thank you Coach Dan Hurley, Coach Kimani Young and the UConn coaching staff Goo Huskies!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

UConn is the 17th Division I program to offer Toure, the 44th-ranked recruit in ESPN’s ranking of the top 60 players in the current high school junior class. Toure made an unofficial visit to Arkansas on Oct. 18, according to 247Sports, where Hall of Famer John Calipari took over as head coach last spring. According to 247Sports, which has him ranked as the top player in Connecticut, Toure has also received offers from Bobby Hurley at Arizona State, Alabama, Providence, Syracuse and Yale, among several others.

Toure scored a team-high 16 points in the losing effort Monday night.

“While the process of Abdou Toure’s buckets still needs polish, there is no denying his ability to score. There is a confidence within his game and a certain gusto with which he performs. While he is explosive, he also understands pace,” On3’s Jamie Shaw wrote in October.

UConn hasn’t had any commitments to this point in the Class of 2026. The Huskies have a loaded 2025 class set to come in next year, featuring five-star guard Braylon Mullins and four-stars Darius Adams (guard), Eric Reibe (center) and Jonny Furphy (small forward). The class is ranked No. 3 in the nation by 247Sports.
