The UConn men’s and women’s basketball programs won’t be the only ones entering the 2024-25 season with sky-high expectations.
The women’s hockey team has trophies on its mind as well, and Hockey East coaches agree, picking the Huskies to finish first in the conference’s preseason poll, released Monday.
UConn won a program-record 25 games last season and captured both the Hockey East regular season and tournament titles. They reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in history, eventually falling 1-0 in double overtime to Minnesota-Duluth in the first round.
Head coach Chris MacKenzie, last season’s National Coach of the Year, will return much of his roster, including All-Hockey East performers in goalie Tia Chan and forwards Jada Habisch and Ashley Allard.
UConn received eight first-place votes in the coaches’ poll. Northeastern received two.
