
Two pedestrians were struck by a car during a hit-and-run crash in New Britain late Monday, leaving one of them in critical condition.
The collision occurred around 6 p.m. in the area of Broad and Booth Streets, according to the New Britain Police Department.
Officers responded to the area on the report of two pedestrians being struck by a car while they were on the road, police said. One man suffered “severe injuries” and was taken to an area hospital, according to police. He remains in critical condition.
A second man suffered minor injuries.
Police believe a small sedan was involved in the crash before the driver took off from the scene. The vehicle was described as a silver sedan, possibly a Toyota or Lexus, with heavy front-end damage. It was last seen in the area of Broad Street and Burritt Street after leaving the scene of the crash.
The collision remains under investigation by the police department’s Traffic Division.
