The director of diversity, equity and inclusion at the state’s Division of Public Defenders Services is being demoted for what has been widely criticized as a misogynistic social media post and other racially insensitive behavior as the division regroups following the dismissal of former Chief TaShun Bowden-Lewis. The DEI director had held a number of positions, including director of the Office of Recovery Community Affairs for the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, before joining the division.
