Rhode Island motorcyclist killed in crash on Route 6 in Killingly

A Rhode Island motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Route 6 in Killingly on Saturday afternoon, according to the Connecticut State Police.

A Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by 64-year-old Brian Carney of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, hit a GMC Sierra from behind as it was stopped at a red light on Route 6 at the intersection of Cucumber Hill Road just after 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Carney sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to Day Kimball Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, state police said. The driver of the GMC was not injured in the crash and refused medical attention, state police said.

The crash is under investigation.
