A person was hit and killed by a car on East Main Street in Avon on Monday morning, according to police.
The Avon Police Department responded to the area of 30 East Main Street for a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian around 6 a.m. on Monday.
According to police, the pedestrian was trying to cross the street when they were hit by a vehicle traveling westbound. The pedestrian died from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.
The driver of the vehicle involved stayed on the scene with the victim, assisted with life-saving measures and has cooperated with investigators, police said.
The pedestrian has not yet been identified as police are still notifying the victim’s next of kin.
