A bus carrying middle school students was involved in a motor vehicle crash in Vernon on Monday afternoon.

The Vernon Police Department, along with the Vernon Fire Department, Vernon EMS, and Vernon school officials responded to the area of South and Crown Streets just after 2:40 p.m. on Monday for a car versus school bus crash, according to Lt. Robert Marra of the Vernon Police Department.

Both vehicles sustained minor damage, Marra said.

No injuries were reported on the bus that was carrying 15 Vernon Center Middle School students along with the driver, according to Marra.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated on the scene by EMS after complaining of pain. That driver was determined to be at fault in the crash, Marra said.

After the students and bus driver were evaluated, the bus continued on its route with the students who were not picked up by their parents.

“The Vernon Police Department asks all drivers to be alert and mindful of your surroundings at all times,” Marra said.
