A New York woman was killed during a head-on crash in New Fairfield on Monday.

The crash occurred on Ball Pond Road in the area just north of Harvest Road where two vehicles were headed in opposite directions when they collided shortly before 9:30 p.m., according to Connecticut State Police.

State police said 62-year-old Diane Staab of Mahopac, New York was driving a 2017 Jeep Compass south on Ball Pond Road when she collided with a 2024 Hyundai Palisade being driven by a 17-year-old boy from New Fairfield. Troopers are still investigating what led to the two cars hitting each other in a head-on manner.

Staab was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, according to state police.

The teen driver and two other boys in the vehicle, ages 16 and 17, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Danbury Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
