A woman was rescued after falling through a hole in the ice on the Connecticut River in Rocky Hill on Tuesday morning.

The Rocky Hill police and fire departments were dispatched Ferry Park, located at 315 Meadow Road, just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday, after a 911 caller reported that they saw a woman walk out on the ice-covered river and fall into the water, according to fire officials.

Police officers were first to arrive at the scene and located a female victim about 100 feet from shore clinging to the edge of a hole in the ice, fire officials said.

Fire crews initiated an ice rescue operation and successfully rescued the woman within six minutes. EMS personnel were at the scene to transport her to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to fire officials.

There were no injuries to any first responders, fire officials said.
