CT driver arrested after striking two cruisers while engaging police in pursuit

A driver was taken into custody after striking two state police cruisers during an escape attempt that led to a pursuit in Windham.

State troopers at 10:24 p.m. learned that a motorist had fled from officers with the Willimantic Police Department when they tried to pull a vehicle over, according to Connecticut State Police.

State police said troopers then located the driver at a gas station in Windham where they tried to box the vehicle in. The driver struck two cruisers and engaged police in pursuit, according to state police.

The driver was later stopped on Route 6 where they were taken into custody.

No injuries were reported.

The identity of the driver was not immediately released.
