The UConn men’s basketball team stayed No. 11 for the third week in a row in Monday’s AP Poll after a week without games over the holiday break.

The Huskies (10-3) started Big East conference play 2-0 with an overtime win against Xavier at the XL Center and a tightly-contested road win at Butler before the break. They will return to action on Wednesday, New Year’s Day, in Chicago against DePaul (9-4). In their first year under head coach Chris Holtmann, the Blue Demons won seven straight to start the season but have lost four of their last six, including Big East games against Providence and St. John’s.

UConn is No. 18 in the NCAA’s NET rankings with a 4-2 record in Quad 1 games. According to KenPom, where the Huskies are also No. 18, UConn has the second-most efficient offense in the nation and the 97th-best defense.

With several top 25 teams off, the AP’s order of the top 13 teams remained the same as last week. Tennessee (12-0) remained No. 1, followed by Auburn (11-1), Iowa State (10-1), Duke (10-2) and Alabama (11-2).

Marquette (11-2) remained the Big East’s only other ranked team at No. 8. St. John’s (11-2) was third in the receiving votes category.

Of UConn’s nonconference opponents, Gonzaga dropped five spots to No. 19 after falling to UCLA, now No. 15. Memphis held at No. 21 and Baylor remained No. 25.
