
One person was seriously injured when the pickup truck they were driving went off an embankment in Groton on Friday morning, leaving them trapped inside.
Emergency crews at 8:23 a.m. responded to the report of a crash on Yetter Road and discovered that a Toyota pickup had gone down an embankment, according to the Town of Groton Police Department.
The first officers on scene found that the driver was trapped in the vehicle. The victim was extricated by first responders and taken to Hartford Hospital via LifeStar.
Police said the emergency response included the Old Mystic Fire Department Heavy Rescue, Mystic Fire Department, Mystic River Ambulance and Lawrence + Memorial Paramedics.
The Southeastern Connecticut Regional Traffic Unit also responded to assist with the investigation. The unit includes officers from the Town of Groton, Stonington, Ledyard and City of Groton Police Departments. Members of the Groton Criminal Investigation Division also responded to assist in the investigation.
The crash remains under investigation.
