A Massachusetts man has been indicted on federal firearm possession offenses after he was allegedly found in possession of three “ghost guns” in Connecticut, according to federal authorities.
Nicholas Kingsley, 40, of Agawam, Massachusetts, is charged in the indictment with unlawful possession of firearms by a felon, unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon. unlawful possession of a machine gun, and unlawful possession of a weapon in violation of the National Firearms Act, according to federal authorities.
Authorities said the indictment was returned on December 4, and Kingsley has appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert A. Richardson in Hartford, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Kingsley has been in custody since his arrest on related state charges on April 16, 2024, according to federal authorities.
Authorities, citing court documents and statements made in court, said the Enfield Police Department arrested Kingsley this year after a traffic stop during which he allegedly was found in possession of three privately made firearms, or “ghost guns”, and 45 rounds of ammunition.
Further while Kingsley was in state custody, Homeland Security Investigations “special agents conducted a search of his vehicle in Agawam” and allegedly seized “14 fully assembled firearms, several Glock machine gun conversion devices, and more than 2,000 rounds of various caliber ammunition,” according to federal authorities.
Authorities also alleged Kingsley’s criminal history includes felony convictions for drug, firearm, assault, and larceny offenses, so he is not permitted under federal law to possess any firearm or ammunition that has moved in interstate or foreign commerce.
The case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Enfield Police Department, and the Agawam Police Department.
