Since January 2022, 49 complaints have been filed with the Connecticut Insurance Department against Athena for non-payment of health claims. 
A spokeswoman for the company said in an email that it "has not been able to promptly meet the funding requirements of the employee health plan. As a result, we are behind in paying submitted health claims.
