William M. Hartigan Sr. OBITUARY

William M. Hartigan Sr. OBITUARY

William M. Hartigan Sr., (Bill/Boppy), devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully at home on January 9th at the age of 91 after a prolonged illness. Bill will be reunited in heaven with his late wife, Frances J. Hartigan. He is survived by his devoted and loving family: daughter Joan Hartigan (Larry Griffin) of Newington, son William Hartigan Jr., of Newington, daughter Jennifer Battaglia (Steve Battaglia) of Glastonbury, granddaughter Ashley Corino (Jim Corino) of New Jersey, granddaughter Amanda Brown of California, grandson Brendan Hartigan (Andrew Autunno) of West Hartford, granddaughter Brittany Battaglia of North Carolina, grandson Michael Battaglia of Pennsylvania, and great grandchildren James and Madison Corino of New Jersey. Bill was dedicated to his family and loved spending time with them, especially during big family events where he would enjoy directing the chefs in the kitchen on meal preparation. Boppy gravy and Boppy stuffing were always in huge demand and though the recipe remains they will be missing something this year. Bill was also an avid fan of Boston Red Sox, New York Giants and UConn Women’s basketball and most of his activities would be scheduled around games so he could watch and provide his own color commentary on his favorite teams. Bill’s family would like to thank all his physicians and caregivers from the UCONN Medical Center, Masonicare Hospice and the Veterans Administration for the exceptional care given him over the past several years. He will be remembered for his love and commitment to his family, his strength when you needed someone to lean on and his always sharp wit when dealing with Yankee fans. Bill served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict era and the family asks that donations to the VA or another Veterans organization be made in lieu of flowers. Calling hours will be held on January 15th, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, CT and services on January 16th at 10 a.m. at St Mark’s Church, 467 Quaker Lane S., West Hartford, CT. After Mass, the burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., West Hartford, CT. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit molloyfuneralhome.com.
