Judith A. (Young) Kennedy 78, of West Hartford, wife of the late John (Jack) Kennedy, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She was born in Springfield, MA on October 11, 1946, the daughter of the late Alma (Gibbons) Young. She is survived by her son, Sean Kennedy of Southington CT, his wife Christine, and their 2 children, Evelyn and Jack, her daughter Meghan Kennedy of Farmington CT and her two loving puppies, Fiona, and Harley, and Judy’s cat, Lucy. She leaves her brother Doug Young and his wife Linda of Washington State. She was predeceased by her niece Cara Young. Judy is predeceased by her brother-in-law, Thomas Kennedy and sister-in-law, Ann Conroy. Judy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Lynn Kovolski for her care and support.

Judy started working for the town of West Hartford in 1970 as a police and fire dispatcher where she met her loving husband Jack and her best friend Jean Evans. Judy then took time off to start her family and when she returned to work, she went back to the town of West Hartford as a Paraprofessional, first starting at Webster Hill elementary school and retiring from Sedgwick Middle School after 22 years. Judy also had many other friends whom she stayed close to for many years.

For all who knew Judy, they knew they would always be welcome in her home.If you stopped by her home at 32 Bentwood Rd, you were always offered a cup of tea or a cold drink. You knew when you stopped by that you’d best have some time to sit for great conversations, some laughs, and a lot of chaos from the children and their friends.Judy leaving this world far too early has left many with very heavy hearts but we know that she and Jack will be waiting in heaven to invite us into their home once again.

Calling hours will be at Molloy Funeral Home at 906 Farmington Avenue West Hartford on Saturday January 11, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm. Words of remembrance will be shared at 1 pm. There will be a private burial ceremony sometime in the spring at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Alley Cat Allies (donate@alleycat.org) or any dog/cat rescue of your choosing.
