Dorothy Bakaj Reeve OBITUARY

Dorothy Bakaj Reeve, 67 years of age, of Southport, NC, formerly of Burlington, CT, Colchester, CT, and Kensington, CT, passed away December 23, 2024, after a short illness. She was surrounded by her loving children, Rebecca Scarano and William Reeve, and her loving husband Edward Reeve.

Dorothy was born in New Britain, CT on June 15, 1957, to the late Clara and Edward Bakaj. She was employed for many years at EBM Industries in Farmington, CT. Upon retiring in 2019, she moved to Southport, NC with her husband Ed where she took up the game of golf and spent many joyous days at the beach relaxing with family and friends. Dottie lived for her family and friends. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. She enjoyed spending time with them and talking with them on FaceTime. Dottie will be remembered as a kind, caring, and loving person who always put her family’s needs above her own.

Dottie was predeceased by her beloved mother Clara Konefal Bakaj, father Edward Bakaj, mother-in-law Joy Reeve, sister Theresa Lee, and brother-in-law Glenn Reeve. She is survived by her father-in-law John Reeve, her loving husband Edward Reeve, daughter Rebecca (Domenic) Scarano, son William (Marissa) Reeve, her brothers Eddie Bakaj and Michael (Tammie) Bakaj, and brothers-in-law: Warren Lee, Robert (Susan) Reeve, and Richard (Judith) Reeve. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan and Claire Scarano, Sophia and Piper Reeve, as well as by her nieces and nephews: William Bakaj, Kristina (Raj) Sodhi, Michael (Sonja) O’Sullivan, Christopher (Jacquelyn) Bakaj, Mark Bakaj, Candice O’Sullivan, Felicia (Eric) Bakaj, Allison (Ryan) Wilson, Kristen (Kevin) Quirk, Ben Reeve, and Bridghid Reeve.

A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 3 Mountain Road, Farmington, CT, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 with Father George Roberts presiding. A reception will follow at the North House in Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dottie’s name may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
