Victoria (Colon) Bragg OBITUARY

Victoria (Colon) Bragg OBITUARY

Victoria Lucille (Colon) Bragg, 51, of West Hartford, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 29, 2024, following a courageous 10-month battle with cancer. Victoria was born in Westfield, MA on January 28, 1973. She graduated from West Springfield High School in 1992 and attended Holyoke Community College. Always a dedicated worker, Victoria’s most recent and favorite position was Business Analyst at Chubb Insurance in Simsbury, CT.

Victoria was a devoted mother, a beloved sister, and a cherished wife, friend, and partner. Victoria married her true love, Matthew Bragg at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford, CT, on July 29, 2017, before friends and family. After their ceremony on stage, they joined the audience and enjoyed a private performance of The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged).

Victoria enjoyed new adventures, traveling, admiring architecture and history, reading, theatre, movies, concerts, rollercoasters and hosting Sing Star parties. She loved rooting for Peyton at all her soccer and softball games. Victoria was delighted to attend Peyton’s high school graduation and move her into her college dorm this past year. Her cherished passion was genealogy, and she enjoyed many days and hours researching her lineage and that of friends and loved ones. She traced her ancestry back to George Soule, signer of the Mayflower Compact, and through to England as far back as the late 1500s. Victoria was recently made a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

Victoria leaves behind her husband, Matthew Bragg of West Hartford, CT; her daughter, Peyton Cunha; her stepdaughter, Sydney Bragg of North Kingstown, RI; her siblings, Sheryl Colon-Hearn and husband William Hearn of West Springfield, MA, Suzanne (Colon) Collins of Winnsboro, SC, Victor Colon, Jr. of Westfield, MA, and Theresa (Colon) Rios and husband Peter Rios of Chicopee, MA; her stepfather, Kris Foy of Springfield, MA; along with many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Victoria was predeceased by her parents, Victor Manuel Colon, Sr. (2010) and Dorothy Lucille (Balch) Foy (2017); and her surrogate mom, Violet Pettit (2018).

We would like to thank her caring and compassionate medical team at UCONN Neag Cancer Center, Dr. Susan Tannenbaum, Alyssa, Jennifer, Amanda, Ellen and especially her infusion nurse Kelly and many others and her McLean hospice nurse Trung and the whole team.

Forever loved, never forgotten, Victoria will always reside in our hearts.

The family has decided to forego traditional calling hours in favor of a celebration of life to be held and announced later this year. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Playhouse on Park, 244 Park Road, West Hartford, CT 06119. https://www.playhouseonpark.org Online condolences may be made at www.SheehanHilbornBreen.com
