Anna Maria (DiCicco) Lalama OBITUARY

Anna Maria (DiCicco) Lalama, 94, of West Hartford, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Anna was born in Pacentro, Province of L’Aqulia, Italy on June 26, 1930. The sixth of seven children to the late Teresa and Giovanni DiCicco, Anna was a highly skilled and talented dress maker by trade and operated her own wedding dress shop in Pacentro prior to her marriage. She married Nicolino Lalama in 1960 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1962. Anna proudly achieved her U.S. citizenship status in 1967. She continued to utilize her talents as a seamstress working independently to provide clothing alterations to many customers who then became lifelong friends.

In addition to raising two children, Anna was a loving homemaker, talented cook and gifted gardener. Anna also found time to work outside the home holding various jobs over the years while simultaneously caring for her family and continuing her seamstress services. Her last position was as in-store seamstress at D&L Store, retiring in 1991. She then immediately began her role as “Nonna” to her two grandchildren and lovingly helped raise them. In 2017 at the age of 87 she was escorted back to her homeland by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Alejandra, and was overjoyed to reunite with many family members. Anna’s optimism was infectious and endearing to all who came to know her.

Anna was pre-deceased by her husband Nicolino in 2021. She leaves behind her two children: Vilma Forastiere and her husband John; Frank Lalama and his wife Alejandra; her grandchildren, Anthony Forastiere and Lea Forastiere; her sister, Elvira Curti in CA; her brother, Raffaele DiCicco in Genova, Italy; and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Dear Ma (Nonna, Sorella, Zia), the light of your smile and hearty laughter will forever be missed. Rest in peace, dear one. Our hearts go with you.
