Diane Estrela-Cwikla OBITUARY

Diane Estrela-Cwikla OBITUARY

Diane Estrela-Cwikla, 63, passed away unexpectedly due to natural causes on December 29, 2024, in Windsor Locks. Diane leaves behind a legacy of love and will be fondly remembered for her kindness, heart of forgiveness, and belief that life is meant to be explored and celebrated. Diane was born on June 28, 1961, daughter of the late Anastacio and Laudalina (Rezendes) Estrela. She grew up in West Hartford, where she graduated from Hall High School. For the last 35 years Diane resided in Windsor Locks, in the same home where she raised her three children and built countless memories with lifelong friends.

Diane spent the majority of her career in the travel industry, encouraging people to explore the world as she loved to do. Whether traveling locally or abroad, Diane relished new experiences, and was drawn to scenic locations or a great beach. She found peace and joy by the water, and often spent hours soaking up the sun, savoring the sound of the waves, or lounging by the pool. She loved to take trips with her sister. Her happiest moments were those shared with her family and friends, enjoying a well-cooked meal, gathering to celebrate an occasion, or laughing with her children and grandchildren. Diane enjoyed meaningful conversations with her loved ones, especially her sister MaryJean and dear friend, Stanley Nieman. Fiercely independent and full of life, Diane cherished the freedom to live on her own terms, but did not miss an opportunity to be with her family. Nothing brought a smile to her face more than a video call or visit with her grandbabies.

Diane is survived by her three children, Kyle D. Cwikla, Sabrina A. Zimmerman and her husband Patrick Zimmerman, and Heather F. Cwikla; her sister, Mary Jean Estrela; and her three cherished grandchildren, Aubrey, Sebastian, and Avery. She also leaves behind two aunts, Judy Rezendes and Aunt Nubelia Cabral, and many dear friends and cousins. Her family is immensely thankful for the kindness, support, and love shown by her close friends and neighbors throughout the years. Diane will be immeasurably missed by all who were close to her.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Diane’s family on Thursday, January 2nd from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford, and to a Celebration of Life at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 872 Farmington Ave., West Hartford.
