Mary Ann (Sansone) Dunn OBITUARY

Mary Ann (Sansone) Dunn, 92, of Westbrook, formerly of Hartford, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Mary Ann was born on December 5, 1932, to the late Saverio and Josephine (Galgano) Sansone. She married Raymond Dunn, Jr., on February 20, 1954. They resided in Hartford where they raised their four children and were faithful members of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish.

Mary Ann drove a school bus for a few years before going to work at Royal Typewriter. She later worked as a clerk for the State of CT–Teacher Certification Department. Upon retirement, she moved to Westbrook and became a parishioner of St. Mark Church. She was affectionately known as the “Mayor of Salt Island Road”. Mary Ann was on the board of the Middle Beach Association for many years. She was devoted to her family and loved to have them around her all the time. She cherished every minute with them. Mary Ann also loved watching the Men’s and Women’s UConn Huskies Basketball Teams, as well as the Boston Red Sox. When Fall came, she would head south to Daytona Beach Shores to visit her son, family, and her many friends at Atlantic Terrace.

Besides her parents, Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Dunn, Jr., as well as her two brothers and her sister. She is survived by her sons, Raymond III, Joseph (Pam), William (Lisa); her daughter, Ann Marie (Scott) Ferreira; her six grandchildren; her eight great-grandchildren; her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much; as well as many friends, including her close friend Joanie, whom she cherished.

Calling hours will be Friday, January 3, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home, 1084 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 79 New Park Avenue, Hartford. Burial will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
