Genevieve Paszczuk OBITUARY
Genevieve Kazienko Paszczuk
Born April 22, 1936, in Nienadowa, Poland, Genevieve “Genny” Kazienko was the only child of Anna Kazienko Duchecki. Genevieve moved to the United States of America in her early teens, settling with Ciotka, (her aunt) on Putnam Street in Hartford, CT. While there, Genny attended hair dressing school and earned her GED. In 1956, Genny met Bogdan Stanley Paszczuk at choir practice. He was outgoing, handsome, and a wonderful dancer. Genny and Bogdan married on October 18, 1958, at St. Cyril Church in Hartford, CT.
Genny and Bogdan resided on Market Street in New Britain, where they raised their three children Henry, Elizabeth and Stanley Paszczuk. Genny was a working mother, cooking and cleaning before her second shift position at Macristy Industries on Newington Avenue in New Britain. By example, Genny taught her children the importance of hard work; the necessity to put your family’s needs before your own; and how to eat well. Genny credits Ciotka for teaching Genny how to cook. Genny’s exemplary Polish specialties will be forever fondly known as Polish soul food.
Genny was predeceased by her mother, Anna, in 2014; her husband, Bogdan, in 1987; and her daughter, Elizabeth, in 2023. Genny is survived by her sons Henry and Stanley and their families, including 5 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. St. Jude’s also accepts donations online at stjude.org or by phone 800-822-6311.
