“What if you could choose the ultimate resting place for your ashes?”

This question was posed by Choice Mutual, who surveyed 3,000 people who were asked, hypothetically, where they would have their ashes spread if restrictions were not an issue.

In Connecticut, the top choice was Kent Falls State Park. Its scenic and picturesque setting is a clear choice for nature lovers, compete with waterfalls and greenery abound, per a release. For family members who loved the outdoors and tranquil, idyllic scenery, it is hard to imagine a better place to reconnect with nature.

Second on the list was New Haven Green, possibly favored for its historical significance and location in one of Connecticut’s more storied cities, per a release. The location is tasteful with matured trees and historic architecture.

Finally, Rentschler Field rounded out the top three. As Choice Mutual puts it, “Rentschler Field, home to the University of Connecticut Huskies, would be chosen for its emotional significance and vibrant atmosphere for sports fans and alumni.” UConn fans with a deep connection to the university would certainly favor the celebrated setting.

Unsurprisingly, national trends matched the ones above, with people surveyed preferring locations with natural beauty, sports arenas, or urban and historical landmarks, per Choice Mutual.

“These survey results are a fascinating glimpse into the personal and cultural significance we attach to our ultimate resting places,” said Anthony Martin, CEO & Founder of Choice Mutual. “It’s clear that people are choosing locations that resonate deeply with their experiences and identities. Whether it’s a beloved sports venue, a place of natural beauty, or a historic landmark, each choice tells a story about what matters most to us in life -and in death.”
