Meyer left the U.S Attorney’s office in New Haven in 2004 to rejoin Califano, who had been named chief counsel to the Independent Inquiry Committee into the United Nations Oil for Food Program in Iraq from 2004 to 2005. 
John H. Durham, former U.S. Attorney, said, “His passing is a grievous loss."
